As problems of radioactive waste disposal and environmental impact take on greater urgency, use of radioisotopes in clinical assays is becoming less acceptable.

It is not surprising, therefore, that the search for suitable alternatives has resulted in a reevaluation of colorimetric techniques that previously had been abandoned in favor of radioimmunoassays.

Recent advances in technology now allow these basic color reactions to be used at their full potential with interfering substances removed chromatographically by modern, easy-to-use disposable columns.

Each procedure is designed with one thing in mind, to allow a rapid, quantitative distinction between normal and abnormal values. By minimizing time and effort while maximizing accuracy and reliability Biochemical Diagnostics test kits provide a cost effective approach that both patients and physicians will appreciate.

Important Features:

No hydrolysis in the 17-OH Corticosteroid procedure.
The Amberlite resin extracts both free and conjugated steroids.

No Sample Drydown or Centrifugation.
Column extraction eliminates the need for centrifugation
and sample drydown; Zimmermann, Porter-Silber, and VMA-Diazo
Color Reactions are carried out directly in the column eluates.

No Glucose interference.
An important advantage in testing high risk pregnant diabetic
patients is the elimination of glucose interference. Glucose is
washed off the column prior to colorimetric analysis.

High Specificity.
With an almost total absence of in-vitro interfering substances,
these kits offer a degree of specificity not usually found with tests
of this type. There is no known dietary interference with the
VMA-Skreen test.
